Poetry Challenge Day 3

Day 3 was a bit random, but a change of pace and very fun. We were told to find the nearest book (of any kind). Turn to page 8. Use the first ten full words on the page in a poem. They could be in any order, and the poem could be of any length. My 10 words were “depravity of man or something else that was even slightly” from page 8 of “Dug Down Deep” by Joshua Harris. Awesome book.

Man is ever on this quest;
Searching for something else,
Filled with some depravity,
Some craving, some desire,
Or else some desperate need,
That even slightly filled
Can fill the soul with happiness.
What is it we seek out so determinedly?
The memories of what was,
The days of old come back to mind,
The thoughts that haunt us in our present day
That lift our spirits with the happy, sad, and bittersweet.

Now, y’all can admit it… you’re beginning to doubt me, aren’t you? “She’ll never stay focused enough to get all 9 days posted tonight!” Well, we shall see, we shall see…
