“The Storm” Cross Country Gal

“All is silent. The earth is still.

All is peaceful.

I marvel at the calm.

There is not a solitary sound,

not voice,

not words,

not movement,

not a breath,

not a drumming of a hearts beat,

only quiet.

All is dark, with the blackness of midnight.

I wonder at the dull, pressing blackness that surrounds me.

No color,

no light,

no feeling,

only black.

A sudden rumble.

Not a growl,

not a mumble,

but a rolling,

tumbling,

turning,

filling,

moving

rumble from the dark.

Again, complete and utter silence.

No light,

no sound,

no color,

nothing.

A flash!

A glorious,

bright,

magnificent,

frightening,

enlightening,

awe filling,

addicting,

flash from within the dark.

A plop.

A plink.

A plunk.

A patter.

A splosh.

A splash.

A growing drumming.

A wet and wonderful feel from the darkness.

It is a storm.

A storm to marvel at,

to fear,

to love,

to hope,

to fill you with a sence of mystery and awe.

A storm,

created,

formed,

made,

moved,

controlled by an awesome God,

a God even mightier than the biggest and strongest storm of his own making.”
